Ichijo Michika (一条道香)
Michika ICHIJO (November 18, 1722- October 4, 1769) was a high-rank Court noble in the Edo period. He was the son of Kaneka ICHIJO. His mother was a lady-in-waiting. His lawful wife was the daughter of Masazumi IKEDA (an adopted daughter of Tsugumasa IKEDA). Teruyoshi ICHIJO, Yachiyo no kimi (the consort of Harumori TOKUGAWA), Masa no kimi (the lawful wife of Nobumichi KOGA), Nori no kimi (the person who inherited Sanbo-in Temple) were his children. He had two other sons and four daughters who died young.
His "go" (pseudonym) was 'Tokujoji.'
He was the Toshi choja (head of the Fujiwara clan).
Brief Personal History
He was born in 1722.
He was conferred Jusanmi (Junior Third Rank) on November 1, 1730.
In 1738, he became the Naidaijin (the Minister of the Interior) and the Udaijin (the Minister of the Right) (1738-1745).
On February 11, 1744, he was conferred Juichii (Junior First Rank).
In 1745, he became the Sadaijin (the Minister of the Left) (1745-1748).
In 1746, he was appointed to Kanpaku (chief adviser to the Emperor) (1746-1747).
On October 3, 1769, he was conferred Jugo (honorary rank next to the three Empresses: Great Empress Dowager, Empress Dowager and Empress). He passed away on the following day.
